Play Jr. Marauders Football This Fall

Tackle football built around safety, teamwork, and fun. A short, action-packed season this September and October — and we're fielding two teams.

The Program

Two teams. One community.

For families new to the program, here's what the Jr. Marauders are all about.

The Jr. Marauders football program offers 7th and 8th graders the opportunity to play tackle football while building physical fitness, teamwork, and personal growth. We're committed to a safe, competitive, and supportive environment — teaching the fundamentals of the game, promoting sportsmanship, and encouraging a lifelong love of the sport. Coaches and the community work together to create a positive athletic experience for every athlete.

We're aiming to field both an 8th grade (varsity) team and a 7th grade (junior varsity) team. Interest so far has been encouraging, and we're optimistic we'll get there. Know a rising 7th or 8th grader who might be interested? Please pass this along.

The Experience

Friday-night lights, teammates for life.

There's nothing like running out under the lights with your team behind you.

Real teamwork

Boys learn to rely on each other, win together, and grow as a unit — friendships that last well beyond the season.

Get coached up

Our staff teaches the fundamentals the right way, so every player improves whether it's their first season or their third.

Just plain fun

Game days under the lights, a tight-knit squad, and the thrill of competition. This is the part they'll remember.

For Parents: Safety First

How we keep players safe.

Safety is the foundation of everything we do. Here's how we approach it.

Heads-Up tackling & technique

Coaches teach proper, heads-up tackling fundamentals — keeping the head out of contact — to reduce risk and build good habits from day one. Conditioning matters too: consistent practice attendance keeps players in shape and helps minimize the risk of injury.

Medical clearance required

Every player must submit a physical from their doctor (dated after Aug 1) before stepping on the field. No paperwork, no participation — no exceptions. Parents also complete a signed concussion-information form at registration.

Our concussion protocol

A concussion is a brain injury, and we treat every suspected one seriously. Our protocol follows the CDC "Heads Up" guidelines and Massachusetts youth-sports standards:

  • Any athlete suspected of a concussion is removed from play immediately — when in doubt, the athlete sits out.
  • That player may not return until evaluated by a licensed health-care provider trained in concussion management and given written clearance to return.
  • Coaches watch for signs — headache, dizziness, confusion, nausea, sensitivity to light or noise, or simply not "feeling right."
  • Parents and the school nurse are informed, and we never let a coach judge the seriousness of a head injury — that's a medical professional's call.

It's better to miss one game than to miss the whole season. Full concussion guidelines are included in the registration packet, and you can learn more at cdc.gov/heads-up.
